Curriculum vitae

Ansgar Zerfass, Dr., born 1965, is tenured full professor of communication management and holder of the Vattenfall-Stiftungsprofessur (endowed professorship) at the University of Leipzig. He is also director of the institute for communication and media science at the University of Leipzig, which was founded in 1916 and is nowadays the largest of its kind in Germany. Prior to this, he worked in management positions at various companies and institutions for more than ten years, and was a honorary lecturer (Privatdozent) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.

He holds a university degree and doctorate in business administration and a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) in communication science. He has received several awards both for his academic work and his communication campaigns, among them the Ludwig-Schunk-Award for economic science, the German Public Relations Award and the German Multimedia Award. He was elected “PR Head of the year 2005" by the German Public Relations Association (DPRG).

Ansgar Zerfass is author and editor of 23 books and approximately 120 articles and book chapters on corporate communication and interactive communication, including the seminal “Handbook of Corporate Communication” (in German). He is engaged in various professional organizations and academic bodies on a national and international level, e. g. as executive director of EUPRERA, the European Public Relations Education and Research Association, and as associate editor of the International Journal of Strategic Communication (Routledge Publishers, USA).
